Quite Nice

I just finished Sin Mark and it was great.
The book thats telling the story was very appealing. i liked it.
(random question, but i suppose you like books? *you used diary-hence a book- in The Last Stand* :D)

anyway, the graphics were ok, the gameplay was quite smooth and nice.
when a portal was summoned behind me for a first time, i got a slight chill and it was quite clever. But as soon as the portals were being summoned back and forth as the level was getting harder, it was kind of getting annoying. It was kind of repetitive. Its just me, but i really was sort of "discouraged" to fight on when i saw a portal being created in the back.

"oh no, i just killed a giant monster that just won't friggin die, and i have to do it again.

Damn." this is how i felt.

But what i like was how you kept interest. The storyline was surprisingly appealing for such a short game and it was quite tempting to find what'll happen next as i finsh a chapter.
Also, the rune stones also kept me going as well. the "ability to create spell" gave me a reason to continue, but it was kinda let me down when i wasn't able to unlock all of the stones due to lacking the stones i wanted and having too much that i didn't want.

Overall, it's a great game, but there's a slight repetition that got me a little frustrated. keep up the good work! i like your games.

PS, i'm sad cause the last stand 3 isn't gonna be made :(

Thanks for the review. Just got to clear something up though...

Think people misread when I posted about the next Last Stand game...what I said was - there won't be another zombie defence game under the Last Stand series umbrella. I am going to do another Last Stand game, it just won't be the same as the previous two.

Good idea, but, it doesn't quite cut it.

first of all, i like war games. lots of explosions, guns roaring, shells being fired, just love it.
This game has put a war into game pretty well, but there's some major flaws.

First, the graphic. although all the vehicles and infantry are very well detailed, but the details of the shells, motars, bombs, etc... it was all a let down.
for example: when a tank is firing at an aircraft, it's barrel is still pointed forward, but it shoots the aircraft. WHHHAT? i don't think the tank shells are guided, unless it's a future warfare.

secondly, the gameplay gets too repetitive. surely, your tanks and aircrafts dropping bombs and blowing stuff up is very amusing, but the method of the game gets too boring. All you have to do is upgrade units, upgrade units, upgrade units, pay a little attention to the "power skilled" section, upgrade units, upgrade units, etc.
The only way to win in this game is this: mass production.
because there's a simply factorachieve victory quite easily, there's only a simple way of making the level harder: giving enemies more firepower. (advantages, etc.)
After level 28, the enemies just got ridiculously hard. They get more base health, more unit health, basically, they are better than you can ever be.

During the gameplay, i found myself continueosly going for enemy's unit health cause those friggin enemies produce endless towers, turrets, units, etc. Then i got to level 28. the enemy got better of me simply cause they 1: got more fire power, 2: more unit health, 3: for some reason, they have endless funds.

I like the unit selection, because it's looks great. but the tower is a bit too much cause it's like setting a twin-chain minigun on your front yard. so my suggestion is this: remove the tower, keep the turret. Turrets are fine.

the hotkeys were extremly helpful. It allowed me to move across the field much quicker than using a mouse. also, it allowed me to check on the battlefield and continue to mass produce heavy tanks and stugs without stopping.

the manual control for appearance of the troops wasn't a very good idea. I wanted to spread two stugs (they appear at the same time.) equally on the left and right, but i couldn't because of the stupid manual control whatever. i wanted to spread the troops so that the offence is balanced, but with the manual control, it just can't be done.

another let down of this game is this: storyline.
i bet lots of ppl complained about this. if this doesn't have any storyline, it would be just as boring as hell like tower defence games. (not all of them. some are fantastic)

Amazing with the sound effects, although little tweaking is needed. the sound effect mix very well, but some explosion effects don't cut it well. also, the music gets annoying (to me) cause all it plays was 1 song. and i didn't like the melody after listening to it for 20 levels.

So, it's a great idea, details of troops and SFX are very well put. but it still need a major tweaking.

Well deserving game

This one of the most fantastic games i've ever played!
FIrst of all, the originality. The originality of this game has really paid off. Who could've thought about killing enemies with their own bullets? (maybe some ppl, but who cares?)

secondly, the uniqueness of each shape. Each shape has different or improved ablities, and thats what got me keep going. the use curiousity by releasing newer shapes after couple of level was very nice.

Thirdly, the graphics and presentation. The 'splosions and the bullets (or whatever it is) were very enjoyable. I like shiny, gleaming neon-ish things and many other ppl like it too XD The exploding green circles produce massive amout of green bullets, and i like this cause it looks like a fireworks.
This is what you truely achieved! You made art out of simple things!

and finally, the intensity of the game. As the health decreases because of your clumsyness, (or just because you're too lazy to move your fingers fast enough- most unlikely) i force myself to stay sharper and focus on the game.
Focusing = addicting
the framerate was dying on me when i got to level 10, (stupid computer, i hate it.) it was still intense cause i can see my wee-little blue ship (is it?) trying to squeeze thru a tiny opening between massive amounts of green and red bullets.

Overall: VERY GOOD. PS: liked the simplicity.

moogoat responds:

Did you try turning the settings lower? The effects setting could give you a major boost in framerate. Other than that, thanks for the review!

Very Nice

good originality, good graphics, quite tight and intensive game play!
As soon as i saw "scriball" i was like: eh, another stupid draw n' play game. i'll give it a try.

wonderfully, it wasn't those kinds of games.
sadly, i wasn't a patient guy who's willing to beat any game till the end.
it's quite hard and challenging, and i like that.
though repeated use of mines kinda disappointed me, even though this is a splendid work.
Great executioning, i like your stuff. keep it up! :D

it's ok. but....

it was ok.
the graphic wasn't bad, the choice of character was ok.
but the game is not as engaging and intense as i expected.
no blocking, confusing skills and stuff needs work.

nice

very addicting! the only time i didn't like it was when there were like 8 gems. Its very had to make a powerful pure gem when there's 8 possibilties.

It was good/okay...

overall, good graphic, ok choice of background, and good varieties of weapons. But, it deafinately needs some pause buttons or somekind of break because, man i really had a sore finger after 1 stage (approx. 10 waves?) so consider that.
bear trap needs some visual work. it wasn't very visible on the ground and often got me killed. please make it look more visible.
