bad choice of music.

compared to Music Catch, this is unbelieveably disappointing.
there is no orininality in your work, nor creativity. Basically, you've used your effort to copy off a successful game.
The reason why the Music Catch was successful was because it was kind of a game that goes really great with soothing and inspirational music, not some rock, pop and... rock.

the only thing good here was the avaliablity of the music. This flash gave me choice to pick.
Regardless of the music choice, the shapes weren't being produced according to the music. whenever the music had strong accents and dynamics in some places, the circle continously produced the shapes in a repetitive manner. also, it's kinda hard to get the shapes when the shapes only come out by half a inch from the circle. Production pattern was to recognizable, and it was disappointing to see.

Liked to see that the songs were in incredible quality. nicely done by putting exit button on the top which abled me to choose another song whenever the song was getting boring.

Overall: it all gets too repetitive, the only thing i have done was to circle around the shape-producing circle to get the shapes. also, the way the shapes come out is just plain too simple. the choice of songs doesn't seem to fit this kind of game, because this is suppose to be relaxing and easy-to-play game, and the relaxing and easy-to-listen song from the Music Catch was able to combine with the game really well.
try different approach of music/tempo games. originality is what really lacks here.

Lacks things. A lot.

Ok, this is one of the "ok" games i've played so far.
the idea is good, but, it lacks the execution.

first things first, the detail and quality was kind of disappointing. The stickman was just some kind of object that jumps hire when it hits a platform. The platform wasn't even a ground. as soon as the stickman hits it, it makes the stickman jump higher.

the good thing is that the simplicity made this game quite addicting. i was able to play for about 5 minutes until i got bored of the repetitive background and platforms. when i try falling, the falling was a bit frustrated cause there was no reaction to the stickman while he was falling for miles and it also took a friggin long time to fall. the stars in the background were just too dim to see. what's the point of the background anyway, if it's just black and doesn't have anything interesting?

music choice was ok, try to have more variety of em.

suggestions:
- make the stickman actually react to whatever you do.
e.g.: instead of making the platform disappear instantly, how about allowing the stickman to perform a motion of jumping b4 you remove the platform? also when he's falling, try adding the action of stickman waving its arms and legs when he is falling helplessly. you can possibly add a scream-in-agony sound effects too.
-make the falling much speedier.
e.g. when falling, every second increases the speed of the stickman falling, and by the time when he reaches the ground, he splatters.
-remove the mouse from the flash during the gameplay
-need instructions!
e.g.: how do you jump, what do you need to get higher scores, etc.
- the change of music or background due to achieving certain score or height.
e.g.: from the bottom, the background is pure skyish-blue with clouds and stuff, as you go higher, you see the space, also seeing stars, moons, planets, etc.
- make sure something happens other than achieving higher score so that it keeps the interest level high.
- the moving speed of the camera was ok. try to make it move more dynamically so that the gameplay gets more intensive.

good job, but i don't think there was much effort was put into this.

Same stuff. not very fun.

This is just a copy of what you did in v3.
this should be considered as v3.00000000000000001 cause all you did was do some minor changes.

as i have said before, the purchasing system still is terrible, so disgusting.
the only thing that had me playing this flash was Tom Fulp's face. Not because he was a flash god or anything, but because he was the only thing that appeared as a picture, not a text.

You better do some major tweaking by gathering huge, i mean friggin huge amount of suggestions and advices, and also by spending great deal of time to improve it. (using the suggestions)

just as Blizzard made Starcraft one of the best game ever made simply by taking suggestions and updating it since 11 years ago (very long time), you need to spend a great deal of time to make this flash shine. I can tell you that Starcraft lacked the quality big time when it was first released. but after the hardwork, it's chosen as the best game ever made by many gamers. you shouldn't be surprised to find out there are many ppl still playing that game. (i think most are Korean ppl, cause they just simply like it XD)

Otherwise, this is just a garbage.

cool.

ok, basically i'm not a fan of man vs man fighting games.
but i do like some really well made and intense games.
This however, didn't make it.

First, it was ok to enable yourself to duck and jump, but since the AI was too simple and too frigging stupid to move, ducking and jumping became useless. all you have to do is punch once or twice, move backward, wait till the guy finishes his attacking, then punch him again.

Basically, it lacks speed and intensity. Concept was interesting, but the AI was nothing but a standing twit. both punching and kicking actions for both characters wasn't very amusing. worse yet, mine only had punching.
The opponent had kicking and punching. Ok, but the kicking part really sucked. What the hell was it actually doing, before it actually stuck out its foot toward me to inflict damage on me? the movements are just toooooo slow.

however, the game went pretty smoothly according to my controls. I guess the quality was ok, it's just that it was stickmen fight, and the frame was ok too.

but seriously, work on it a bit more. This game isn't so bad, it just need a little tweak.
apply faster movements to both characters (doesn't mean speed up the whole friggin flash because that's just waste of time) and try to make it more attention-grabbing. (e.g. give choice to pick character, music, arena. give special attack to each unique character.)

the good choice of music and the proudness of my victory againt that stickman twit was the only thing that satisfied me.
i like the idea, just tweak it a little bit!

Weird

I like the second verson of Preloader
much more flashy and amusing, though calculation never fails to continue without stopping.

It's great, but i dunno how i got "undefined" as my setting. I think you might need to fix that.

Speedometer was definately fun to watch since mine was going all over the place. is there a reason for FPS 40 to be there on the speedometer? cause mine seems restricted at 30, and i don't think anybody can ever reach 40.
(just ignore this it's no biggie)

great job! i wish there would be 2 tests: low quality test, and high quality test.
basically one has basic dynamics and one has seriously heavy dynamic. (if you want to, you can add medium quality test)

thanks for listening to my utterly stupid (unless you take it) suggestions.
we should definately make a collection of FPS testers. :D

jjwallace responds:

ohh yeah i know i just fixed it... i was trying to do an update by request and messed it up...

it works fine again

i lost .10 because of that hahaha oh well

well i guess 40 so it can possible go to 40,,, i dont know who will make a flash with 40

Pretty cool

Its actually cool that it can calculate FPS accurately and continuously. When the Dynamics were on, mine dropped to 15 FPS. I was shocked :D
This could be the next-gen preloader!

jjwallace responds:

i had this problem with this intro and i didn't want to put everyone in low quality..
finally found a solution i guess, so i just thought all should benefit so its open source...

amusing

it was pretty cool to see the balls moving away n' stuff, but it needs a lot of work.
music would certainly add some entertainment.

also, try making the balls ROLL away instead of moving the blobs away. I think it would be better if the balls moved a lot faster, cause then i might find myself going nuts, trying to rip the ball field into half and prevent the balls from returning to its own place.

kind of amusing. but it gets extremly boring after 10 seconds.

KK, ty for the ideas and the review :)

A basic calculator. too basic?

I liked the calculator just as a simple basic calculator and i liked the background.
BUT it still lacks many functions as basic calculator (percentage, etc.)
liked the way you've laid out +, -, *, / on the bottom. for me it was a bit troublesome to go up and down to type the #s first then choose a plus or minus sign then type the # in the second blank. Of course you can finish typing all the numbers first then do the signs or whatever but it's just too much trouble to me.
try scientific calculator LCD type of display. for example, rather than using two different numbers and a sign then terminating the equation, after you type the numbers, if you press the +, the + sign appears right beside the number. then you can countinue to type another number and press the + again.
Overall: congratulation for making a successfully working calculator.
try to make a scientific calculator, i would be glad to use it instead of the "boring MS calculator"

BrainToast responds:

I will try and make an actionscript than lets you press the keys to change the +, -, *, / on the bottom.

Not very good

Ok so here's the list why it's good.
1. its a shooter.
2. looks like a cute game
and that's about it.

the reason why it's bad:
1. character moves too fast, hard to control on small platforms.
2. the archery has bullet system. er... why? also, shouldn't you reload like every time you've shot an arrow? otherwise, the bow is just like a useless 6 round revolver.
3. why does stamina decrease even though i'm standing in one spot? it increases by 1 and decreases by 1/2. er... i guess you wanted to make it recharge slow i guess.
4. stamina is ridiculously used for shooting. if your stamina is down, the damage is only 1 per shot. er... the recharging rate is alrdy down by half... so... i guess you want us to die helplessly?
5. physics just sucks.
6. hard-to-notice rocks. first i thought it was just some annoying obstacles that you should just jump over and ignore, but i found out it's actually suppose to help you get to higher platform. the rock thingy isn't clearly distinguished as an object to be "stepped on" and it's just ridiculous.
7. in the tutorial, what is that moving/flashy arrow? it's just plain annoying.
8. uh.. i'm using this "bow" that's usually used for "long-range" attacking, but i'm only friggin 5 from the enemy and it won't take damge cause it's out-of-range. UMMMMMMMMMM... i suggest giving me a sword or a spear if you want me to do a close-range combats.
9. monsters spawn too fast and too many on each platform.
Me: "erm, i need to go to the bathroom so i killed all the monsters and went to the bathroom one platform down. but when i came back, i think i saw about 20 monsters waiting to kill me." -Morale of the story: Do not go to the bathroom while you're fighting with instant-spawn monsters. (sarcastic)

So try this: instead of allowing only small damage when the stamina is down, how about making the range shorter and make the arrow fall to the ground instead of allowing you to shoot a perfect horizontal line of arrow and then display "out-of-range" . also please make the character a wee-bit slower cause it's hard to control the kid with a useless bow. Remove the ammunition system, because it's just ridiculous. Also, slower the rate of monsters being reproduced. God, when i was in the last platform and fell, i had to go back to the beginning. Imagine how many monsters i had to fight again. (also my stamina was down to 0, so it was really bitchy to kill all of them with the damage of "1".)

overall, interesting idea, looks bright and maple story-ish, but there are many many major flaws to be fixed, otherwise this is nothing but a piece of crap that i wouldn't even want to use it as a toilet paper.

Not bad

Idea's pretty interesting, seeing that you're your is to reach an almost-impossible goal with only 50,000 dollars.
I was quite fun playing this cause it was quite pleasing to see myself gaining more money as i upgrade my "grade"

the purchasing system requires a little more attention. for example, buying three 10 mid-grade(gives you total of 90 "grades") by paying extra 500 dollars instead of buying $90,000 high-grade for 70 "grades"
If it was me, i would only go for that option cause it's the best deal that stands out. and that is the problem. By giving the player a significantly better choice than others creates a repetition of the gameplay instead of giving the player choices between grades that seems reasonable for it's price.
other than that, great idea. I would love to give this game a bit more stars if the graphic improves :D
